So, I'm assuming I'm not alone in my disappointment that cycling with headphones on is not only dangerous but illegal*. Two major joys are taken from me this way: NPR (in the form of podcast or live radio) and music. I'm seriously considering getting a transistor radio or something so I can still get my Morning Edition fix but I'm not sure I'd be able to hear it, if I'd be bothering others and if any sort of auditory distraction is a good idea. It also wouldn't solve the music problem because the radio, by and large, is not the place where I hear music I like.
What winds up happening, because as much as I love Renee Montagne and Steve Inskeep I cannot recite their newscasts to myself, is that I get a song that I love going in my head and keep it there until I get sick of it. By then it's usually stuck in my head for the rest of the day but oh well. I suspect I'm not alone in this either. Doesn't everyone walk/ride/metro around with a song in their head?
I love this, and I think that it fairly accurately reflects my moods and happenings in my life so I think I'm going to start throwing them up here whenever it occurs to me to do so. The past weeks or so it's been this...
I think it's got a good upbeat and rhythm for cycling and is a nice, bright and fun way to start the day.
*In most states, and that's cycling with two headphones. One is apparently alright. And I'm not disappointed in that it's illegal so much as that it's dangerous.
